Big Boss Brewing “Aces & Ates”

It’s starting to get cold here in NJ. This is the time of year when I look for my beers to be a little more… complex. Something a little heavier, darker, maltier, and thicker. Yes and the mercury goes down, I tend to get cravings for a good hearty Stout! I mean, International Stout Day took place just last week so I know I am not the only one with these feelings! Oh, and anytime you can incorporate some quality Coffee in my Stout… it’s on! A package arrived on my door step just last weekend with a Stout that fit this description perfectly!
Big Boss Brewing’sAces & Ates” Coffee Stout, brewed with coffee from Larry’s Beans. This brew from Raleigh, N.C. pours dark brown (almost black), with a very thick and creamy brown head. The Aroma brings on robust coffee, chocolate and wisps of smoke. At first sip, even before I could taste this beer the rich and velvety, full mouth-feel was pleasingly evident. The flavor is unabashedly bold with smokey coffee and chocolate malt flavor. I can see this being a tasty Sunday breakfast beer, or a delicious dessert beer. This beer never lets on that it has an abv of 8%, so be mindful. The finish also delivers coffee, but with a sweet milk chocolate aftertaste. This is an excellent beer, and I am very appreciative to Big Boss Brewing for sending some “Aces & Ates” my way. I do wish now, having tried this that I could get it regularly here in NJ! So if you have access to this or any other offerings from Big Boss, consider yourself lucky and enjoy! Here’s to Good Beers!
