Eastern Shore Brewing Co. “Duck Duck Goose”

I have said many times that I can’t pick one style of beer as my definitive favorite. It is one of the few things in life I just don’t have to choose between, and I wont! I love all beer, luckily there is not a style I have tried that I can’t find enjoyable! Although I will say that I have grown a new appreciation over the past year for Porters. I have always liked them just fine, but as of late I find myself seeking them out at times. Just like Stouts, don’t be fooled by the dark color. These beers can be light and refreshing! Speaking of light and refreshing Porters, allow me to make a recommendation.
Eastern Shore Brewing Co.Duck Duck Goose” German Brown Porter pours a dark reddish copper color with a huge, billowy tan head. The aroma is sweet with chocolate and toffee, along with a roasted coffee smell. The taste was a nice balance of mild roasted coffee, hops and milk chocolate with a malty backbone. It had a medium mouthfeel with a short and sweet chocolate malt finish. The 6.0% ABV seemed well controlled and appropriate. This brew won a silver medal in the Maryland Governor’s Cup Competition in October 2010, and it is not hard to see why. This Porter hits all the right notes. If you are every in the St. Michael’s Area of Maryland, look for some fresh suds from Eastern Shore Brewing Co.! Here’s to Good Beers!
