Founders “Devil Dancer”

Every once and a while I fall into a really good beer by accident! This past year I have made friendly with one of my local brew store managers. Recently he let me into the “Back Room”. You know the room, every brew store has it! That dark, cold and cave like area where you know they keep the good stuff! Yeah, that back room! To say the least, I felt like a kid in a candy store! Here is one of the brews I was able to grab from the back room!
FoundersDevil DancerTriple IPA, pours an opaque caramel color with a one finger off-white creamy head. I barley had the cap off this brew when the strong smell of biter hops met my nose! The aroma is loaded with citrus, pine and funky hops with citrus and sweet malt. Upfront the taste is very strong with grape fruit and bitter pine hop pellets. (Yes I have chewed on raw hop pellets, who hasn’t?) There are also rich flavors of caramel, spice, malt, orange zest, and alcohol. The mouthfeel is full and creamy. The Finish is long, dry, spicy, hot from the 12% ABV, and super hoppy! I can’t really say this is a balanced beer, but who’s looking for balance from a Triple IPA? It’s all about the hops with this one! This brew is confrontational. It is kick you in the face hoppy, and a Hop Head’s dream brew! Here’s to Good Beers!
