Great Divide Brewing Co. “Espresso Oak Aged Yeti”

Sometimes it Is hard to not judge beer by its name or label. You just get a gut feeling that a certain beer is just going to be amazing. It’s a chance we take and can be a little let down when that beer does not live up to our own personal hype. However, sometimes your craft beer instincts can be dead on, and that is a beautiful thing! I recently picked up a beer that I knew would be a pint of heaven solely based upon its name and who brewed it. I know I have said in the past don’t judge beer by labels or names… but as to every rule there are exceptions!
Great Divide Brewing Co.’s “Espresso Oak Aged Yeti” Imperial Stout pours black as night with a one finger thick brown head. The Aroma is incredibly delightful and complex with unmistakable bold espresso, fresh vanilla bean, strong dark chocolate, coffee and alcohol. The taste starts out sweet with chocolate malt and dark chocolate. Midway through piney hops are present, as well as molasses, coffee, oak and whiskey. This finish is smooth and chocolaty, balanced with bitter espresso and a bit heat from the not overly powerful 9.5% ABV. The mouthfeel is full and smooth like a chocolaty, coffee beer shake! Having had other brews from the Great Divide “Yeti Series” I knew I was in for a treat, but it was more enjoyable than I had even speculated! This is a Must Try and an Instant Favorite for Me! If you see it on the shelves of your local brew store, Buy Two! Here’s to Good Beers!
