Harpoon “Imperial Pumpkin”

Next in my series of pumpkin brew reviews for 2014 is a pumpkin stout! While I love a regular pumpkin beer, there’s something to be said for pumpkin porter’s and stouts. They just add a whole other layer of flavors to everyone’s favorite gourd brew. There are some excellent dark pumpkin ales to be had! Including…
HarpoonImperial Pumpkin Ale” is describe by the brewery as being “Half Imperial Stout and Half Pumpkin Ale”. It pours thick and black with a thin khaki head. The nose is spicy, fruity and chocolaty. Initially it is very sweet and boozy. After the palate warms up the flavors really work together with pleasant roasted malt, chocolate and pumpkin notes. The mouth-feel is full and creamy. The finish is spicy and hot. The hefty and very warming 10.5% abv is present from start to finish. This roasty, chocolate, pumpkin spiced bomber is one to stock up on! It is a nice sipping brew on a chilly autumn night. Don’t miss this one this Fall! Cheers to Good Beers!
