Hoppin’ Frog “Frog’s Hollow Double Pumpkin Ale”

Here we go again with another pumpkin brew review! Hope you are not getting tired of Orange Gourd Ale Posts, because I have even more in the que after this one. It’s Autumn and my mission to experience tasty pumpkin beers has gone into overdrive. I may be a little fanatical about this, but Fall is my favorite season and Pumpkin spiced anything, (especially beer) just encapsulates and defines Fall for me. Hey, what’s better that a Pumpkin Ale? An Imperial Pumpkin Ale, and this week’s brew comes from Akron, Ohiho. Now on to the brew…
Hoppin’ FrogFrog’s Hollow Double Pumpkin Ale” pours a deep golden orange with a slow forming, thin, fizzy white head that disappears in seconds. The aroma smells of cinnamon, nutmeg, cloves, and lots of all spice fill the air along with sweet malt and bread. The taste upfront it is very sweet with brown sugar and alcohol. As it warms there is a buiscuity flavor that helps the transition from sweet to pumpkin spicy. The finish is wet and loaded with cloves. The mouthfeel is thin to medium with fizzy carbonation. The 8.4% ABV is always present throughout but what did you expect from an Imperial brew? Here’s to Good Beers!
