Jolly Pumpkin “E.S. Bam”

Nothing is better than when you take a chance on a beer and it surpasses your expectations. Every time I hit up the brew store I like to go home with something I have never had before. I don’t eat the same meal for dinner every night, I sure don’t want to drink the same beer every day! Keep it fresh yo! I picked up a 22oz bottle of brew from a brewing company that has never let me down, so I knew it would be good. However, I did not expect it to become an instant fav for me this summer!
Jolly PumpkinE.S. Bam” Hoppy Farmhouse Ale (Extra Special Bitter) is the brew I took a chance on. Ok, Ok I know I usually enjoy everything Jolly Pumpkin brews, but I had never had this one before and you just never know! Anyway “E.S. Bam” is bottle conditioned and pours a hazy golden sunset orange with a huge foamy off-white head. The aroma is very unique with sour fruity notes, spices, and a wet hay must. The taste is citrusy, yeasty, sour, and earthy with a bitter hops kick. The finish is malty, funky, bitter and dry. The mouthfeel is medium with sharp carbonation. The 4.7% ABV makes this not only a pleasure to drink but very sessionable! On my bottle was a notation stating that this brew was part of batch 759/760 and was bottled on 3-23-2011. I kinda wish all breweries would do this. Regardless this is def a beer I will be revisiting. It was complex, refreshing, and tasty! Here’s to Good Beers!

I dont think Jolly Pumpkin makes a bad beer. I have been fortunate to try many of them, and loved them all.

Over this year I have had the chance to try quite a few offerings from Jolly Pumpkin and I have never had an ill word to speak of any of their beers! I think they are quickly becoming one of my fav breweries!
