"Knot So Pale Ale"

A couple weeks ago my wife and I took a trip down to St. Michaels MD, to check out some new scenery. On our way in I caught a glimpse of a barn looking structure with a crowd of people hanging out in front of the Eastern Shore Brewing Co. Sometimes it is nice to not do any research on a town you are going to take a trip to, and get surprised with the cool places you come across. St. Michaels was packed with people in general. Apparently St. Michaels was having a Wine Festival, so everyone is walking around town with glasses from one tasting spot to the next. I am not much of a wine drinker myself so I was glad to know that down the street was a local brewery! By the time I made my way down to the Eastern Shore Brewing Co., I was a little pressed for time so instead of sitting down and having a flight of all their brews I picked up a six of their “Knot So Pale Ale”. I loved the play on words.
It poured a clear copper color with a one finger thick, light tan head. The Aroma was very hoppy. There was no trickery in the taste. Just as hoppy upfront as it smelled. it was not a citrus hop flavor that I seem to encounter a lot. This was a crisp and dry bitter flavor. There was not a hint of lacing and the head dissipates pretty quickly. It balanced out on the finish with a nice malty sweetness. Technically I know this was done in the style of a Pale Ale, but in my opinion everything about this brew points towards an India Pale Ale. The playful name, the big hop taste, and the 8.0% ABV. This is not an overly complex beer. It is Straight Forward with out being Straight forward. You know what I mean? St. Michaels is a great
little town on the bay, and I have no doubt that one day I will find myself back trying another brew or checking out a flight. I suggest if you are in the area to stop by and get some fresh local brew! Here’s to Good Beers!
