Lagunitas “A Little Sumpin’ Sumpin’ Ale” (Beer Trade)

As I have mentioned before, I recently did a beer trade with Bianca from . This all started through some pumpkin beer related tweets (@AGirlandHerBeer). It was apparent that I had found someone whose passion for Pumpkin, Beer, and the combination of the two, rivals mine! This led to some e-mails and the idea of a trade! Naturally, it being the fall season, Bianca was mostly looking to obtain Pumpkin beer, along with anything not offered to her in California. I was looking for anything from the West Coast that I could not get here in Jersey, including a bottle of Pliny The Elder. After several e-mail wish lists were sent back and fourth, a trade was finalized and put into works! Recently Bianca has reviewed her beer from the package I sent her! She tried Weyerbacher’s Imperial Pumpkin Beer! You may now enjoy both of our reviews for this tasty brew! ~My Review~ * ~Bianca’s Review~
The first beer I cracked open from Bianca’s package was LagunitasA Little Sumpin’ Sumpin’ Ale” IPA. It poured a beautiful hazy golden color. A slow forming, creamy white, one finger thick head topped off this easy to look at brew. The hoppy aroama was very inviting! It smelled like ripe juicy citrus fruit, and pine! The taste was right on with the smell, orange peel, pine, a little peppery, with a sweet malt finish. This is what I would call a solid, refreshing IPA. The citrus pine hops flavor was consistent from the first sip to the last and had a perfect malt back bone. The 7.5% ABV was very well controlled. So Thank you to Bianca, I look forward into digging into more beer from this package soon! Here’s to Good Beers!

It was one of the Girl’s and I favorite beers of the Summer. Love how strong the citrus notes were. Can’t wait for next beer trade!

  2. This beer trade thing is a good idea. Might have to start putting out the feelers a little bit. we’re based in Michigan – land of Bell’s, Short’s, and more… hint, hint. Cheers.

Lagunitas nailed another one with A little Sumpin Sumpin. That and Wilco Tango Foxtrot have been staples of mine for awhile. Good stuff!

This beer is really interesting for a wheat beer. I had it on draft a few times toward the end of the summer and it is on my list for when the weather gets warmer. Loved it. So far I haven’t been disappointed with anything from Lagunitas – with the Undercover Shutdown being my favorite. I think I heard that it was just a limited thing, though.

Justin, Lagunitas has yet to let me down as well! I have had the Under Cover Shutdown on Tap and I think it is one of their best! Cheers!
