NJ Beer Co. “Garden State Stout”

This past weekend I had the awesome opportunity to hang out with some great people at the New Jersey Beer Company. We all gathered in celebration of craft beer of course! Many a good beer and great time was shared by all. As you know, any time I visit a brewery I always try and support it by taking some fresh brew home. So you know I brought my growler with me. My love for beer and New Jersey runs deep, so a craft beer that bears my favorite state’s name makes my heart smile.
New Jersey Beer Company’s “Garden State Stout” pours a solid black color with a slow forming thin, brown head. The aroma brought sweet smells of chocolate syrup, roasted coffee, molasses and wood. The taste was rich with smooth dark chocolate, coffee, earthy smoke and sticky molasses. The mouthfeel is medium and slightly oily, with subtle carbonation. The finish was dry and bitter, accompanied with some heat from the 6.6% ABV. I don’t care what time of year it is, any season is the perfect season for a roasty, chocolaty stout, and NJ Beer Co. delivers! Next time you are in the Garden State, pick up some Jersey Fresh Brew! Here’s to Good Beers!

I have had this on a couple of different occasions and there are times I love it and then times I think it is just okay. I wonder if this is just me.
