Ommegang “Three Phillosophers”

It’s no secret that beer pairs well with food. Beer can be paired with every meal of the day in deliciously clever ways. But beer goes so much further than that. We also pair beer with events, events that involve food that pairs well with the beer. Even more we pair beer with seasons, seasons which we celebrate with feasts/events that center around food that pairs well with beer. My point? Beer pairs well with life. It is that simple. No matter what we are celebrating or eating, no matter how hot or cold it is outside, there is a beer just right for the occasion. You just have to be adventurous enough to find it! For me nothing pairs better with a chilly Fall evening than a Belgian Quad. Allow me to suggest…
Ommegang’sThree PhillosphersBelgian Quadrupel mixed with cherry Lambic pours a dark opaque mahogany with a one finger thick creamy beige head. The aroma is loaded with enticing smells, figs, plum, cherry, candied sugar, baking chocolate and spice. The taste is just as complex with dark fruits musty hay, tart cherry, caramel and malt. The flavors really open up after having a chance to warm up for 10 minutes or so. The finish is light and sweet with a small hop bite. The mouthfeel is medium with smooth carbonation. Oh and the 9.8% ABV never seems nearly as high as it is, so enjoy responsibly! This is a big and tasty brew with a complex layering of delicious flavors! This is a perfect brew to pair with a crisp fall evening or any occasion life brings you. Here’s to Good Beers!

Nice review. I’d seen this in stores before but never bothered to get it. After reading your review, I’ll definitely pick some up.
