Pig Iron Porter

The Iron Hill is a brew pub that has opened a handful of establishments in the NJ, PA, DE, area. I have visited one in each state. I have enjoyed trying the seasonal brews they have and some of the staple house brews. One staple they have is the Pig Iron Porter. Of all their House beers this I think is my favorite and goes perfect with a burger! It comes with a sudsy two finger thick khaki head and a black body. The aroma is a delightful mix of coffee beans and chocolate. The mouthfeel is full and rich. It is very bold at first with a roasted coffee malt taste, followed by a bitter smokey kick, and a sweet chocolaty clean finish. The 5.4% ABV is well hidden by all the other great roasted coffee, brown sugar, and chocolate flavors. It has good head retention and the lacing is excellent. Anytime I visit an Iron Hill this is a beer that I will always come back to, and I highly recommend it. Here’s to Good Beers!
