Schlafly “Christmas Ale”

Here we are again friends. It is Christmas time / Holiday season. Where does the time go? Now is the time we are all attending holiday parties and family gatherings. You, being the good beer enthusiast you are go out to the brew store and stock up on holiday / winter ales for yourself, friends and family. There are just so many to choose from! I myself find it hard to pick between them all at times! I will say that when choosing a holiday brew I want it to accentuate the warm fuzzy feeling we all expect from this time of year! I want it to smell and taste like the familiar holiday traditions of when I was a child. I think I found one that fits the bill this year! Last year I spoke of Krampus and Gen. George Washington Crossing the Delaware. This year I wanted to step back and suggest a brew that can just be enjoyed with loved ones.
Schlafly’sChristmas Ale” pours a radiant amber color with a thin off-white head. The aroma is full of yule tide smells like brown sugar, malt, molasses, cinnamon, allspice and citrus. The taste is very sweet upfront, with a little orange peel. Then spicy with cinnamon, ginger and allspice kicks in. It reminds me of a pumpkin ale at first but as the beer warms up I get more of the molasses and ginger going on, giving me more of that Christmas vibe. The mouthfeel is medium and oily, with sharp carbonation. The finish is long and sweet with a nice warming heat from he 8% ABV. This brew is definitely a good way to kick start your Christmas cheer! Always Drink Responsibly! Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays, and Here’s to Good Beers!
