Schlafly’s "Pumpkin Ale"

Continuing on my Pumpkin Beer Journey, what I like most about pumpkin beer is their differences. Every good pumpkin beer I have ever had, manages to showcase that pumpkin pie flavor, but in a different way. I don’t think I could ever get tired of pumpkin beer. It is probably my favorite type of beer! Although I am kind of glad it is seasonal, I would probably grow tired of it eventually if it were a year round beer. I tend to get fanatical sometimes. That being said, on to the pumpkin goodness!
Schlafly’s “Pumpkin Ale” does not exactly have the most exciting label. It’s not like all the other Evil, Dark or Creepy labeled Pumpkin Brews you find in the fall. It is a shade of orange with a big pumpkin on the front, and a quote from Henry David Thoreau. The name is plain and simple “Pumpkin Ale”. It poured an deep, bold amber with a big sudsy khaki head that stuck around for a bit. The aroma was simply malty and spicy. The taste kicked off with a nice light pumpkin spice. It has a malt characteristic that reminds me of a sweet syrupy pumpkin pie! It had a medium mouthfeel and moderate carbonation. The 8% ABV was hidden extremely well! Don’t let the fact that the label is not flashy or that the name is not catchy fool you. This is a good solid pumpkin beer that I will not forget about next year! Here’s to Good Beers!
