Sierra Nevada “Estate Homegrown Ale”

I am a firm believer that one of the best gifts that people can give is beer. For too long people have been giving wine as a gift for any special occasion. I think that a nice 22oz bottle or six pack of craft beer will show someone you care just as much. Of course some thought will have to go into it just like wine. You may have to know what the person’s likes and dislikes are a little bit, but the same goes for that bottle of wine. It can be a fun adventure for someone who does not usually drink craft beer to try something new! I would love to see craft beer gifting become more of a trend. This past Christmas I was gifted with a 22oz bottle of beer. It was my favorite gift this Christmas, and I got some pretty good stuff!
My awesome wife gifted to me Sierra Nevada’s “Estate Homegrown Ale” IPA. It comes sealed with green wax on the cap and neck of the bottle. It is USDA Organic, being made from Sierra Nevada’s own hops and barley grown at their Chico brewery. This wet hop IPA pours a clear, vibrant copper, topped by a three finger thick Memory Foam like head. The aroma was citrusy, piney, and grassy, all the best hop aroma’s working together! The taste starts out sweet and bready, with some caramel. The flavor then changes over to more piney and grapefruit. The finish is clean, citrusy, and peppery. The mouthfeel is medium with moderate carbonation. This is a big juicy hop-bomb that is good to the last hop! Here’s to Good Beers!
