Stone Brewing Co.’s "Levitation Ale", Session Worthy

Everything in moderation. This is especially true when it comes to beer, or is it. Most beers should be consumed in moderation because of their moderate to high ABV’s. But what about those of us that are responsible with beer and just really love how it tastes? Sometimes we would like to have more than a couple every now and then for special occasions! I have mentioned the term “Session Beer” or “Sessionable”, but have never really reviewed a True Session Beer. This concept may be a little foreign to some, but yes there are great tasting beers with low ABV’s that one can enjoy several of responsibly while having a good time without getting drunk.
The Stone Brewing Co.’s “Levitation Ale” makes a great session brew! This Amber Ale weighs in at 4.4% ABV. It pours a cloudy amber with a fluffy two finger thick beige head. The aroma is strong with big floral hops almost like an IPA, earthy pine, and caramel malt. The taste delivers a grapefruit citrus hops flavor upfront but is balanced out by sweet caramel and vanilla malt flavors. The finish is just as flavorful with a piny hops bite. The mouthfeel is light and dry. This beer is both incredibly flavorful and sessionable! Think of this beer for your next poker night, bbq / picnic, or holiday get together. Even though this is lighter on the alcohol, it does not mean you should not be careful! Enjoy your session responsibly! Here’s to Good Beers!
