The Just Beer Project “Just IPA”

Just IPA      There is no denying the momentum Craft Beer has right now! The choices from breweries all over the country are abundant, and the styles of beer from those breweries are seemingly endless! I myself find myself hovering like a kid in a candy store, not knowing which “oak aged, anniversary, double, imperial, nitro” brew to choose! However, sometimes it’s nice to return to the root of a particular style of beer. Something that isn’t so big and punishing on the palate. Something that is just what it is supposed to be. If you’re not a hardcore beer enthusiast, you may not know where to look for a more session-able brew based upon beer names and labels alone. Enter the Just Beer Project.
The Just Beer Project” is headed up by Alan Newman, Founder of Magic Hat Brewery in 1994. In a world of double-imperial-triple barrel aged nitro big beers, Newman is looking to offer a more simplified and straight forward brew. Read more about The Just Beer Project *HERE* On to the brew: “Just IPA” pours a very clear amber color and forms a one finger thick, pillowy white head. Instantly the aroma of fresh citrus and pine hops is in the air. The taste delivers a grassy hops flavor upfront, followed by a breadiness and a solid caramel-vanilla malt backbone. The mouthfeel is on the thinner side of medium, with moderate carbonation. It’s incredibly drinkable. Just IPA rings in at 5.5% abv, meaning that a few of these can be enjoyed without total palate destruction. It finishes with a small spicy hop bite and mild biscuity aftertaste. Clearly a brew that does its best to deliver… Just IPA. This just hit my neck of the woods in Central NJ on June 6th 2013 in kegs. Keep an eye out for it! Here’s to Good Beers!
