Victory Brewing Co. Tweet Up / Victory Village Brown Ale

In the not so distant past I had the honor of being invited to a Tweet Up at the Victory Brewing Co in Downing Town, PA. I have not been doing this blog terribly long, so I was really stoked to be invited to hang out with other beer enthusiasts / bloggers! About 20 people showed up. A great time was had conversing over fresh, quality food and craft beer! Most Memorable of the Victory Tweet Up for me are the awesome people I met and the great beer being served that is not incredibly accessible outside their brewpub. Just one more reason to visit a brewery, they may be serving something you will not find in bottles at your local brew store!
Of all the beers I tried at Victory the “Victory Village” Brown Ale was the one that caught my attention the most. It had a thin white head with a maple syrup tinted body. The aroma was heavily laden with coffee and malt sweetness, giving off wisps of burnt sugar and caramel. The taste was like no other Brown Ale I have had. This was simply the most coffee flavor that I have ever come across from a beer that did not look like motor oil! It tasted like a smooth, mild, nutty, coffee. It was very different. It was incredibly balanced. The Sweet malt and rich coffee flavors played off each other perfectly, and the slight floral hops bitterness in the finish was fitting. The mouthfeel was thin but it felt right for this brew. The 5.1% ABV made Victory Village a very sessionable beer. Being a coffee enthusiast myself I can easily drink multiple cups in a sitting. This beer provides the best of both worlds! I regret not filling a growler to take home! Thanks to the #PhillyBeer Crew for Inviting me out! Here’s to Good Beers!

Great blog write up, Jym! The Village was my favorite of the night as well. I think the whole group was on the same page about it actually. Glad you could make it. Glad you had such a good time. Here's to the next one! Cheers!
